WHY THE BERET? WHY NOW?

The recent wars in Iraq and Afghanistan remain vividly etched in our collective memory, enough time has now elapsed to renew genuine curiosity and deeper reflection among audiences, regardless of their personal views on these conflicts.

The Beret presents a compelling opportunity to shed light on the intense and perilous missions regularly undertaken by U.S. Army Special Forces. These elite soldiers routinely face extraordinarily dangerous situations on the front lines, confronting persistent threats from terrorist organizations such as ISIS and other extremist factions. The abundance of real-life experiences from these ongoing operations provides a rich foundation for an engaging, long-term narrative.

The Beret delivers a contemporary, authentic portrayal of America's warrior-diplomats—the Green Berets. These teams operate courageously in some of the world’s harshest and most complex environments, working closely with local allies to foster freedom and stability, truly embodying their motto: "De Oppresso Liber" ("To Free the Oppressed").

While war has been widely explored through documentaries and feature films, stories of the Special Forces remain surprisingly underrepresented. The Beret fills this gap, offering audiences an intimate, nuanced look at the untold realities faced by these elite teams and illuminating the intricate challenges that are often invisible or misunderstood by civilian audiences.

The Army Special Forces (Green Berets) are designed to deploy and execute nine doctrinal missions: unconventional warfare, foreign internal defense, direct action, counter-insurgency, special reconnaissance, counter-terrorism, information operations, counterproliferation of weapons of mass destruction, and security force assistance.
